Photo Finish
2003 Tulips

By Sandie Lush

With her love for hand quilting, Sandie focused on stitching award-winning whole-cloth quilts in the traditional British style until she saw quilts made by Rose Kretsinger on display at the Spencer Museum of Art in Lawrence, Kansas. The Bristol, England, quilter explains, "These quilts combine exquisite applique with wonderful flowing feathered quilting designs into one glorious whole. I knew immediately that this was something I had to try." Referring to a small drawing in an early issue of QNM and a black-and-white photograph of Kretsinger's Pride of Iowa, Sandie added original vine borders and her own feather quilting for her 86" x 86" version of the classic.
