Heart Strings

 Assembly

Step 4

Referring to the partial quilt assembly diagram, sew 3 W blocks and 3 X blocks together, alternating types, to make a row. Make 3 rows like this.

Starting with an X block and alternating types, join 3 X blocks and 3 W blocks to make a row. Make 3 rows.

Alternating types, sew the rows together.

Step 5

Again referring to the diagram below, join 12 Y blocks to make a side border. Make 2. Matching centers and ends, sew these to the sides of the quilt.



Step 6

Sew 7 Z blocks together to make the top border; repeat to make a bottom border. Add these borders to the quilt.

Step 7

Layer the quilt lining, batting, and top. Baste.

Using a variety of hand-quilting, perle cotton, and sashiko threads, quilt the patches in-the-ditch and across the quilt as desired. Bind the quilt to finish.
