Triple Four-Patch

 Assembly

Step 1

Wash and press fabrics. Cut the patches listed in the materials and cutting box and shown in the rotary cutting diagrams. If you plan to strip piece the four-patches, cut strips as listed instead of individual A's.

Step 2

If strip piecing four-patches, join a batik dot strip to a white/cream strip (Fig. 1) to make a band. Press the seam allowance toward the darker fabric. Make 9 bands. Using your acrylic ruler and rotary cutter, slice the bands into 1 1/2"-wide segments. Cut a total of 240 segments. Referring to the block piecing diagram for orientation, join 2 segments, matching seams, to make a four-patch. Or, join A's individually. Make 120 four-patches.

Step 3

Referring to the block piecing diagram, join 5 four-patches and 4 B's to make a block, paying careful attention to the placement of the white A's. Make 24 blocks.
