Step 10
Using the diagrams for reference, trace the Large Leaf motif and placement guides on a 6 1/2" square of tracing paper, flipping and rotating the tracing as needed to complete the motif. Likewise, trace the Small Leaf motif and guides onto tracing paper. Mark the C's with the complete Large Leaf motif and mark the D's with with the half motif. Also mark the E patches with the Small Leaf motif and mark only the leaf in the outer borders to fill.
Layer the quilt backing, batting, and top. Baste. Quilt along marked lines. Nancy quilted the four-patches with continuous curves and added a grid across the B's. Bind the quilt to finish.

Color Options
Madeline, a new line from RJR Fabrics, inspired this traditional-looking variation. Add interest to the simple block by combining both large- and small-scale florals. For a quicker quilt, choose a busy print for the setting squares and triangles and eliminate the need for elaborate quilting.
Vary the look of the block by changing the placement of light and dark values. For an elegant, feminine block, we've used a favorite batik for the B's and complemented it with pale pink, fuchsia, and burgundy.
