Cultivating Flowers in Wintertime

 Posy Heart

Use bias strips to form the heart outline. Note that the heart is not continuous. Embroider the stems. Applique the leaves and flowers, shifting the motifs as desired to make the design more asymmetrical. Letha appliqued fabric buds. She outlined the bud base with dark green floss, and then used satin stitches to fill in the bud base. Use embroidery to extend the bud tips.
