Minnie's Picnic
Designed and Made by Penelope Tucker
San Jose, California, quiltmaker Penelope Tucker loves vintage quilts. She was inspired to make her own version of a 1910 British quilt using 1930s reproduction fabrics. On a more recent historical note, the applique motifs Penelope used were designed by Julia Spidell for a quilt called Peace Baskets. Julia's quilt was presented in 1988 to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and his wife, Raisa, by President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan. Minnie's Picnic was machine quilted by Pamela Uhlig.
