Imperial Bay
Designed and made by Barbara Fiedler and Pamela Kittrell; Made by Peg Spradlin
Challenging themselves to showcase the beauty of large-scale prints, a QNM editor and an artist teamed up to create this easy
and elegant bed quilt. The block, King's Crown, was chosen from QNM's archive of published block patterns. "We looked for a simple pattern with a large central patch to feature the lovely printed motifs in this focus fabric from Kona Bay's Mikoto Collection," notes Barb.
This block was shown in QNM's 50 Best Blocks (2005), still available at villagequiltshoppe.com if you would like more piecing ideas and inspiration.
The Imperial Bay pattern appears in the November 2006 (#387) issue of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine. If that issue is no longer available at your local quilt store, check back issue availability and order online at www.villagequiltshoppe.com.
If you'd like to make an Imperial Bay quilt just like the one shown on these pages, a kit of these Kona Bay fabrics for the quilt top and binding is available from eQuilter for $69.95. Order
online with product code QNQKKBBK at equilter.com or phone 877-322-7423.
