Yesterday's Roses

Designed and made by Terry Benzo

"I wanted to make a Christmas quilt for under the tree, and I thought I could do it fast. Boy, was I wrong!" writes Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, quilter Terry Benzo. "It was ready for the holidays the next year." Terry used invisible machine applique and hand quilted the antique-inspired wall quilt that is now a part of her family's holiday tradition.

Use subtle red and green prints that "read" solid, as Terry did, or select colors that complement your decor for year-round display.

The Feathered Wreath quilting motif used in Terry's quilt is available online in our Web Extras area.

The appliqued border on Yesterday's Roses is an adaptation of the Fern Leaf Swag design in Bonnie Browning's book Borders & Finishing Touches (America Quilter's Society, 1998).

The Yesterday's Roses pattern appears in the December 2006 (#388) issue of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine. If that issue is no longer available at your local quilt store, check back issue availability and order online at www.villagequiltshoppe.com.
