Out of the Scrap Bag
Designed and made by Mildred Ferris
Mildred Ferris of Arvada, Colorado, made a series of eight improvisational scrap quilts in 2004 while undergoing treatment for breast cancer. "The time spent in my studio was great therapy," she says. After working through that difficult time, Mildred adds, "Each day is special. I don't let things or people bother me as much as before."
Have fun experimenting with random color placement as you use your scraps. This quick and easy pattern makes a great quilt for a college dorm room or a teenager's bedroom.
The Out of the Scrap Bag pattern appears in the January/February 2007 (#389) issue of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine. If that issue is no longer available at your local quilt store, check back issue availability and order online at www.villagequiltshoppe.com.
