Diamonds and Arrowheads
Designed and made by Peggy Gelbrich
Equilateral triangles have always interested this Langley, Washington, quiltmaker. Peggy Gelbrich taught herself how to work with 60-degree triangles by practicing the cutting and piecing techniques in Gayle Bong's book Trouble Free Triangles (That Patchwork Place, 1995). Now, Peggy teaches others how to break away from right angles. "I want to give my students the freedom to create their own 60-degree triangles of any size from smaller triangles and diamonds," she says. Peggy completed Diamonds and Arrowheads in 2005; it was quilted by Laurie Weiner.
To learn Gayle Bong's quick-cutting technique for this quilt, see "Quiltmaker's Workshop" in the June 2007 (#393) issue of Quilter's Newsletter Magazine. If that issue is no longer available at your local quilt store, check back issue availability and order online at www.villagequiltshoppe.com.
