Christmas Cracker
Designed and made by Sara H. Hopkins
Looking to use up her stash of red and white Christmas fabrics, Sara Hopkins of Portland, Oregon, found an occasion to do so when her small quilt group created a challenge that required making a charm quilt using only Christmas prints. The design she chose for the challenge is a traditional one. She writes, "I enjoy taking an old, unlovable pattern that no one ever uses and tweaking it into something new." Sara named her quilt after the holiday party favors that pop when they're opened.
Photographed at Dori Quilts & Lodge Furniture in Lakewood, Colorado.
The Christmas Cracker pattern appears in the December 2007 (#398) issue of Quilters Newsletter. If that issue is no longer available at your local quilt store, check back issue availability and order online at www.villagequiltshoppe.com.
