Feathered Fantasy

Made by Richard Larson

The humble nine-patch is given a new and elegant look in this quilt made by Richard Larson of Carrollton, Texas. Richard wanted a colorful canvas on which to machine quilt, so he chose this design from Marti Michell's book 101 Nine Patch Quilts (ASN, 2000). The colors revolve around the center blocks, so you need to make the number of blocks called for to duplicate the Boston Commons look. Follow Richard's direction and quilt from the back with heavy thread in the bobbin to make your continuous machine quilting prominent.
