Autumn Fair

 Assembly, continued

Step 4

Join 10 F's and 9 border units in a row. Sew to the top of the quilt. Repeat for the bottom. Likewise, join 12 F's and 11 border units in a row, and sew to the quilt's side. Repeat for the other side.

Step 5

Finally, join G, H, and I patches to make a border corner unit. Make 4 corner units, and sew one to each corner.

Step 6

Sew short red borders to the top and bottom. Sew long red borders to the sides.

Step 7

Layer the quilt lining, batting, and top. Baste. Quilt in-the-ditch around the block patches. Scott machine quilted meandering stitches in the tan and cream patches. Look at the quilt photograph for ideas for quilting the red border and H patches in continuous loops. Bind the quilt to finish. Click here for instructions for adding 1/2"-wide binding.
