Full Circle
Made by Rose M. Marzetti
A 1930s airplane block pattern published in QNM issue 256 was the perfect choice when Rose, a retired flight attendant, wanted to make a special gift for her friend's daughter. The Newtonville, Massachusetts, quilter explains, "I made this quilt for the wedding of Katie Kulik and her husband Dave, a Marine pilot. I worked with Katie's father and mother at the airlines, hence the title of the quilt." We have adapted the block pattern for paper-foundation piecing. If you plan to use a directional sky fabric, as Rose did, you may prefer to make templates for the patches and use traditional piecing techniques. Also, Rose used a striped fabric for the borders of her quilt, giving the appearance of multiple borders.
