Lofty Decisions
Choosing The Right Batting
Part 2, Synthetics

 New Polyester Battings

During your next shopping trip, you may find some interesting new additions on the shelf. For example, Quilters Dream Battings has released Dream Poly, made from microfiber polyester, considered a big breakthrough in the textile industry. Trade publications tout the microfibers as meeting or surpassing the performance of natural fibers in terms of feel and better breathability. Fairfield has introduced Antibacterial Poly-fil Traditional Batting, and Buffalo Batt & Felt has announced that it has upgraded its equipment to "state of the art" to produce batting with a consistent density and even thermobonding for a cleaner, softer, more pliable batt.

Polyester battings come in a variety of thicknesses, from low to ultra-loft.
