If you missed the first showings of the bold, graphic quilts from the remote area of Gee's Bend, Alabama, at The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, you will have other opportunities to see the quilts.
Having attracted the attention of both print and television reporters, the one-of-a-kind collection is scheduled at facilities across the United States through 2006.
From June 14 to August 31, the quilts will be displayed at the Mobile Museum of Art in Alabama before finishing the year at the Milwaukee Art Museum, September 27 to January 4, 2004.
The year 2004 will see the quilts at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., from February 14 to May 17; the Cleveland Museum of Art, June 27 to September 12; the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia, from October 15 to January 2, 2005.
The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art will have the collection from February 13 to May 8, 2005; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, June 1 to August 21; The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art at Auburn University, September 11 to December 4, 2005; and then the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia, from December 17 to March 12, 2006.
