Little Flower Chain is a small-scale version of the 2003 raffle quilt I made for the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. They can display this little one whenever the full-size one is traveling to other venues.
For the past few years, I have been using old block patterns, such as the Irish Chain in this one, as backgrounds for my no-fuse, free-motion embroidery applique. I find that combining traditional piecing with contemporary methods of applique and embroidery give my quilts a little added zip.

Little Flower Chain, 29" x 29", by Barbara Barr.
Dear Editors,
When my grandson Sam Williamson was six and one half years old, he designed and made Crazy Maze. He was inspired by the book The Quiltmaker's Gift by Jeff Brumbeau and Gail de Marcken, which we read frequently. Sam made the quilt for a friend who had leukemia and was in the hospital having a bone marrow transplant.
