We invite reader letters and slides for this column. Part of the fun of any quilting bee is seeing the faces of the people who share their thoughts and quilts, so we encourage you to put yourself in the picture with your quilt. Please send submissions to:

Dear Editors,

Quilters from the Hart is a group of ladies from Hart County, Georgia. The group has completed many projects for charity, including making baby quilts for local hospitals and Project Linus, and bed-sized quilts for nursing homes and the women's shelter.

After 9/11, our group decided to make a quilt to honor our hardworking firemen. Each member of the group made at least one block. Incorporating the different-sized blocks was a design challenge for three of our most gifted quilters, Evie Secrest, Sue Lamble, and Lynne Shaw. Many members helped with the hand quilting.

When we presented our Firemen's Appreciation Quilt to the Hart County Fire Department, we were delighted to hear that the firemen decided not to raffle the quilt, but to hang it in their living quarters. Our group has received great satisfaction in being able to help our small rural community.

Dear Editors,

Grade 4/5 students at Gilmore Community School in Burnaby, British Columbia, made It Takes a Whole Community to Raise a Child. Students used fabric crayons to draw the center scene, a picture of the school and local neighborhood with all of the people who make it such a vibrant, wonderful place to live. Photos of school activities were transferred to fabric and used as centers for the Log Cabin squares.

The students thoroughly enjoyed learning all the processes involved in constructing and completing this successful project.
