Summer Shows Fill the Calendar

Almost anywhere you plan to visit this summer, you'll find a major show to entertain and educate.

Athens, Ohio. Quilt National '03 continues at the Dairy Barn Cultural Center through September 1. Selected quilts from the 2001 show will be on exhibit at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas, this fall, sponsored by American & Efird, FreeSpirit Fabrics, and QNM.

Sisters, Oregon. The Pacific Northwest will once again reserve the second Saturday of July for a one-day outdoor show in the small town of Sisters. For the 28th year, this time July 12, the whole town will be festooned with quilts of every shape, size, and color as quilters and their entourages make their way through the streets. Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Civil War era quilts, a collection of Dear Jane quilts, and the Great Lakes, Great Quilts traveling exhibits will be featured at Quilt Odyssey 2003, July 31 to August 3, at the Eisenhower Inn & Conference Center. Lansing, Michigan. The international nature of quilting will again be the focus of World Quilt & Textile, August 8-10, at the Lansing Center. Some of the special exhibits will include contemporary quilts from Australia, Fibreworks Miniatures from South Africa, a collection of quilts by English quilter Barbara Barber, and the Japanese-American Architectural Challenge.

Nashville, Tennessee. Experience Southern elegance at an afternoon tea sponsored by the American Quilter's Society at this year's Quilt Exposition in Nashville, August 27-30.
