More than $40,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded at the 11th International Quilt Week Yokohama scheduled for November 20-22.
The show, held at the Pacifico Yokohama Exhibition Hall, is sponsored by one of Japan's leading quilt magazines, Patchwork Quilt Tsushin. It was the first large quilt festival in Japan, and has grown annually. This year more than 70,000 visitors from around the world are expected.
More than 600 quilts will be displayed. Featured exhibitions will include the 2003 IQWY contest winners from eight different categories including traditional and contemporary, pictorial/memory, message, flower, and quilts with a Japanese theme. There are separate groups for bags and wearables, and a separate contest for miniature quilts no larger than 20" x 20".
