For the eighteenth time, The Professional Quilter, a quarterly business journal for those in the industry, has selected one quilt teacher from numerous nominees for its yearly award. Mary Stori of Brodhead, Wisconsin, has been named 2004 Quilt Teacher of the Year.

Mary's students from her classes in hand quilting, whole-cloth, trapunto, story quilts, embellishment, and wearables nominated her for the quality of her teaching and the enthusiasm she brings to her classes. Judges for the award--Dixie Haywood, Jeannie Spears, and last year's award recipient Linda Schmidt--also considered nominations for Marilyn Belford, Shelly Burge, Roxanne Carter, Laura Cater-Woods, Marge Edie, Louise Girard, Linda Hahn, Mary Huey, Julie Huffman, Libby Lehman, Marjorie McWilliams, Diane Monde, Jo Morton, Karen Musgrave, Liuxin Newman, Melanie Normann, Julia Pfaff, Jane Sassaman, Pat Sloan, Lura Schwarz Smith, and David Walker. All of the nominees are profiled in the Spring issue of the magazine.

Nominations for the 2005 award should be sent before December 1, 2004, to The Professional Quilter, 22412 Rolling Hill Ln., Laytonsville, MD 20882; teacheroftheyear@professionalquilter.com; www.professionalquilter.com. Copies of the magazine can be ordered from the same address.
