HGTV Shows Continued Support

Restore America: A Salute to Preservation, 59" x 72", by Tom Russell.

To show its continued support for the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Home and Garden Television commissioned a quilt to honor 12 historic sites across the country. In Restore America: A Salute to Preservation, 59" x 72", quilt designer Tom Russell paired a technique frequently seen in antique New York Beauty quilts with a contemporary design and included trapunto, a style of fabric embellishment dating back to the 1400s. HGTV says the quilt captures its commitment to raising awareness of the importance of historic landmarks in new ways. The quilt and individual blocks were auctioned, raising more than $10,000 for National Trust. HGTV.com will feature this quilt in its block of the month pattern series starting in September.
