News Notes

...Alliance announces weblog...

The travels of a quilt artist through the former Soviet Republic of Georgia and her experiences with Georgian quiltmakers are shared as an online diary on the website of The Alliance for American Quilts at http://centerforthequilt.org/webblog/ index.php. Karen Musgrave, an Alliance board member, formed a quilt group on her first trip to Georgia, and on this, her second visit, returned to continue her teaching. While in the country, she also documented some antique quilts and toured the textile collection of the Akahaltshikhe Museum.

...AQS honors five...

More than 20,000 quilt lovers made their way to the home of the Grand Ole Opry for the AQS 2004 Quilt Exposition in August in Nashville, Tennessee. At a special reception, five quiltmakers were named as All-American Quilters: Alex Anderson, Jinny Beyer, Eleanor Burns, Caryl Bryer Fallert, and Ruth McDowell. The honorees spoke of their beginnings in quilting as well as their present work. At the exposition, AQS also debuted the pilot of its new television series American Quilter that began airing on Lifetime Real Women in January. For information on the 2005 show in Nashville, contact AQS at P.O. Box 3290, Paducah, KY 42002; 270-898-7903; website www.americanquilter.com.
