...Shelburne Renovates Gallery...

Improved lighting and new interpretive labels will be some changes that guests may notice in the Hat and Fragrance Textile Gallery when Shelburne Museum reopens in May. Other improvements such as new electrical wiring and fire detection systems will also be added to the gallery, the museum's primary exhibit space for quilts, hooked rugs, and samplers. www.shelburnemuseum.org

...Quilters Seek Vanity Plate...

A traditional star block shown in the June 1988 issue of QNM is being used on the prototype of a one-of-a-kind special interest car license plate that quilters in Virginia hope to have accepted by their state. The star design was included in an article entitled "Heritage Designs from the Old Dominion State," and statewide supporters of the plate combined the image in the proposed license design with the words "Virginia Quilter!" at the bottom of the plate. The state's department of motor vehicles requires 350 prepaid applications for a design before the plate can be issued; an additional $10 fee for a special plate is added to regular registration fees. Only Virginia residents are eligible for the plates. vastarqlt@yahoo.com
