Inductee Named for 2006
During her more than 40 years in the world of wearable art and quilts, Virginia Avery has earned numerous awards for her own work. Much respected and sought after as a teacher, she tells her students, "We are all surrounded by designs every day of our lives. We just have to learn to open our eyes and see."
To her long list of accomplishments, the Port Chester, New York, resident will add another honor to her list of accomplishments this summer as she is inducted into the Quilters Hall of Fame.
Virginia will be named QHF's 36th honoree at its annual celebration, July 13-16, at the newly refurbished Marie Webster House in Marion, Indiana. The gathering, open to the public, will feature lectures and workshops by Virginia, Eleanor Burns, Yvonne Porcella, and quilt historian Sue Reich. Information about this year's quilt contest, entitled "How Does Your Garden Grow" is available on the group's website. 765-664-9333; www.quiltershalloffame.org
