The Voice of You and Me 2006, 58" x 60", by Yvonne Porcella and Karen Musgrave

Quilt Lovers Offered Opportunity to Help Save Quilt History

For the third time, quilt artists Yvonne Porcella and Karen Musgrave have created a raffle quilt that will benefit the documentation and preservation activities of the nonprofit Alliance for the American Quilt.

Yvonne and Karen, both board members of the organization, designed and finished The Voice of You and Me 2006, 58" x 60", in 2005; Karen Watts quilted the piece. A free pattern is available for the bird block in this quilt as a membership perk through the Alliance website. Information about joining and purchasing tickets can also be found there. The winner of the quilt will be drawn on May 20, 2006.

The Alliance recently announced that it will move its headquarters from Kentucky to the new offices of HandMade in America in the summer of 2006, now under construction in Asheville, North Carolina. The Alliance was selected from a number of other organizations vying for space with HandMade, a nationally recognized craft and economic development organization. The new home will be officially opened in August. 502-897-3819; www.centerforthequilt.org
