Virginia Quilts
Featured at Museum

During its 175th anniversary celebration, the Virginia Historical Society will hang 20 quilts in the exhibition "Quilts of the Old Dominion" at its gallery through August 30. Another round of 20 quilts will be displayed from September 1 through December 3.

Each rotation of quilts, all made in the state, will show the progression of the art of quilting by featuring five modern quilts as well as pieces made before 1900 selected by a committee from the Virginia Consortium of Quilters.

The displays in Richmond, Virginia, will include stories about the women who made the quilts and information about the patterns and the history of the era in which each quilt was made.

Quilt appraiser, collector, and historian Eileen "Bunnie" Jordan will lead a gallery walk on Wednesday, November 8. 804-358-4901; vahistorical.org
