GCQE Last Stop
for World Quilt Winners

The second annual Greater Chicago Quilt Exposition, November 8-11 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center in Schaumburg, Illinois, will be the last chance patchwork enthusiasts will have to see the prizewinning quilts from the U.S. and all international entries to the 2007 World Quilt Competition. The contest is produced each August by Mancuso Show Management. Quiltmakers from nearly a dozen countries were invited to participate in the competition.

This showcase is only one of 19 special exhibits at GCQE, including "Crayola Driven & Coffee Fueled," art quilts by Mickey Depre; "Digital Shibori: Pattern & Stitch," fiber works by Tricia McKellar; and "A Slice of Oz," the landscape quilts of Australia's Gloria Loughman. Several art quilt organizations will have a presence on the show floor as well-the Signature Art Quilters, the California Fiber Artists, the Chicago School of Fusing, and the Fiberarts Connection of Southern California have all assembled exhibits of work made by their members.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to take a wide variety of full- and half-day workshops. Show organizers have brought together a 12-member faculty of renowned quiltmakers, who will offer more than 30 classes at this year's event. quiltfest.com
