Quilt Art Auctioned for $10,000...

Winning bidder Maureen Hendricks went home from the 2007 Studio Art Quilt Associates conference in May with a handcrafted wooden box containing small quilts by 12 renowned fiber artists, including Noriko Endo, Mickey Lawler, and Nelda Warkentin. SAQA's Art Gallery in a Box III sold for $10,000, which will be used to support the organization's programs, operations, and exhibitions. The first and second boxes were auctioned in 2002 and 2005. Each box is itself a work of art; this year's box was crafted by Paul Henry of Carlsbad, California. saqa.com
