488 Pride: A Zip Code Quilt

488 Pride: A Zip Code Quilt, made by Linda Plyler of Mason, Michigan, is presented in the March 2005 (#370) issue of QNM. Linda made this quilt to show the different communities within the 488 zip-code region, where she works as a postmaster. Presented here are five more blocks from 488 Pride.

To read the complete article and view other blocks from the quilt, check local quilt shops for the March 2005 (#369) issue of QNM. If that issue is no longer available at your local quilt shop, visit our online store at www.VillageQuiltShoppe.com to check back issue availability.

The Meridian Historical Village in Okemos contains six historical buildings, including this one-room schoolhouse.

Lyons is a small community not far from the mouth of the Maple River and the site of Chigaumichkene, an historic Native American village. The dam along the river is a great place for fishing.

Ithaca's historic fire hall is topped with a unique weather vane; the original is safely housed inside the community room.

Elm Hall is the smallest freestanding post office in Michigan, second smallest in the United States.

Linda's mother, DeEtta Archambault, painted this block, a map of Michigan detailing the 488 region.
