Shipping Wisdom
Tips from the Pros

Professional quilters ship their quilts often. To ensure that the quilts are repacked properly, they often enclose printed repacking instructions. Two of QNM's contributors have agreed to share their instructions with our readers.

Charlotte Patera of Grass Valley, California, is an art quilter and the author of five books. She is best known for quilts that have been inspired by the molas made by the Kuna Indians of Panama. To see Charlotte's quilts, visit her website www.charlottepatera.com.

Charlotte encloses this instruction sheet every time she ships a quilt. She says her biggest concern is the center crease that most people create when they fold a quilt.

QNM's readers met Jill Le Croisette of Carlsbad, California in the April 2005 issue. Jill enclosed the following instructions when she sent her quilts to our office for photography.

Jill has another set of instructions for quilts that are sent with a hanging stick. She says, "I ask for quilts to be rolled, face out, around the stick and secured with fabric strips included, before being rolled in the muslin provided, then with plastic labeled with my name and address."

Jill invites our readers to visit her website at www.artquilts.us. If you wish to contact her for additional information about her experiences with packing and shipping quilts, email jand@eudoramail.com.
