Columbia Pinwheel
Foundation-pieced Border

Georgia B. Fries' Columbia Pinwheel appeared in the May 2005 issue of QNM. For those who prefer to use paper-foundation piecing, we're providing a pattern for the border of half-square triangles for Columbia Pinwheels. Download the PDF file or print and trace or photocopy the pattern given below 34 times and join the sets to make 2 strips with 24 squares and 2 strips with 26 squares. On the strips with 26 squares, cut off the last square on both sides and reposition as shown in the quilt assembly diagram; tape in place. Foundation piece alternating triangles of blue and green prints to these strips. Continue with the directions given in the pattern.

See the May 2005 (#372) issue of QNM for complete directions for the Columbia Pinwheels quilt. If that issue is no longer available at your local quilt shop, visit our online store at www.VillageQuiltShoppe.com to check back issue availability.
