Periwinkles Applique Pattern

In the July/August 2005 QNM, Gabrielle Swain presents the Quiltmaker's Workshop "Colored Pencils for Applique." Her sample piece, Periwinkles, demonstrates her technique of using pencils and pens to add dimension, shadow, and color to applique.
The pattern for Periwinkles is given here. Prepare patches for applique with your preferred method. Stitch or fuse them to the background fabric, adding patches back to front. Color and add dimension to the applique with pencil and pen as described in the workshop.
