Vernons’ Wood

The extra-wide border on Karen Luman’s
quilt Vernons’ Wood lends itself beautifully to fancy feather quilting. Karen’s original hand-quilting motif, which she drafted to imitate the flowers and leaves printed on the inner border, will fit the corners of the wide border. Enlarge the pattern 200 percent. Align the dotted line with the mitered seam. Flip the pattern over to trace a mirror image. For complete instructions for making Vernons’ Wood, see the January/February 2008 issue of QN (issue 399).
